August 2012
Be careful when planning in August. London 2012 Olympics = 27th July to
12th August (29th August to 9th
September is the Paralympics)
Wednesday 1st August
Versatility Challenge - the judge is Colin Kitchen. Last year's winner
Adrian Davies passed on the
responsibility to Colin, who will announce the titles two weeks before.
Digital projection (PDI) only. Entries must be from stock and not
taken for the contest.
Please ensure you have read ALL the competition rules and guidelines
before submitting any work for a competition.
Please contact any of the committee members who are fully conversant
with the presentation needs of the print easel, the projector and the
audio visual system.
Wednesday 8th August
The Royal Photographic Society's 2011 PDI Exhibition displayed on
the big screen.
Wednesday 15th August
Casual evening: Tonight's theme is 'Fixing the Shadows' - a little
photographic history.
Also we will perform a dummy run for next week's event, calibrating the
three projectors and checking
the screens and techniques....
The casual evening each month has a theme.
We can accept or ignore this theme depending on what else we find
interesting to discuss but there will at least be a table, demo or short
lecture on the theme to ensure the evening has a focal point.
Wednesday 22nd August
New competition format:
Extra event is the Tryptych and trio competitions. PDI onto three
screens. An idea stolen from Wantage
CC, the first session before the break is for three images, making a panel,
projected on three screens. After the
break we have one screen with each image composed of three pictures
blended, collaged or 'joined'. Full
details and layout suggestions are on a separate sheet on the Notice
Board and available from your comp sec.
The judge is Kevin Day, Stoke Poges CC (CACC)
Wednesday 29th August
SPEAKER: Talk by three members, with prints,
from last year's leaders who are
invited to share their
techniques: John Credland, Mike Kirby, Peter Silver.
