‘Things’ can mean a lot of things, and it did in the 3rd round of the Photographer of the Year (POTY) competition! This month’s SET subject the POTY competition was  ‘Things’ and this generated such a large variety of subjects that could be photographed.

You may be wondering what the definition of a ‘Thing’ is. Well, it is defined as ‘an inanimate object distinguished from a living being’. So, anything that is not living…. This definition certainly was followed with the entries ranging from a big nut to a display case full of antiquarian things!

Congratulations must go to John Goldsworthy, Doug Murrie and Peter Silver for all achieving perfect scores in our SET subject. In addition, in the OPEN subject, congratulations must go to Bernie Harfield, Tom Knowles and Graham Wills. There were a number of notable entries which also scored highly with 19’s from Linda Court, Adam Gawronski and Paul James. The winning images can be seen below:

An Amazing level of Entries

We had an amazing level of entries for our judge, Terry Coffey, to assess and score this month. So much so that for the first time in the club’s history we had to invoke the carryover rule.  This meant that the OPEN2 entries were allowed to be carried over to another competition night. This resulted in only having a SET and one OPEN entry from each entrant for Terry to judge. Also, it was encouraging to see other names scoring well. This certainly demonstrated the increased creativity and improvement in photography our members are achieving.
