What is The Rosewood Trophy And Who Attended
The Rosewood Trophy is an annual event between Banbury, Badby and Buckingham Camera Clubs, also known as the 3B’s. This year was the turn of Banbury to host it. Buckingham were the trophy holders, having won the competition in 2017. As a result, there was a lot to live up to. The rules call for 16 printed images from each club to be submitted. Our Image Selection Team; Peter Silver, Paul Raynor, Tony Chivers and John Credland chose the best images to represent our club. Furthermore, Pete Silver and Adrian Court attended the evening on behalf of the club.
Judging was by Barbara Lyddiatt from Chalfont and Gerrards Cross Camera Club. Barbara is no stranger to the club as she gave a talk on ‘The Road To Damascus And Beyond’ last year. She moved through the judging at a fair clip, giving some comments on images, but not a huge amount of critique. It was felt that the standard of images this year was pretty high so it was going to be a tough competition!
The Scores on the Doors
Congratulations to everyone that was selected to compete. Of our images Barbara was particularly taken with the following top scoring images;
- Nick Steadman’s ‘Harvest Mouse’ scored 20 and was felt to have fantastic detail and composition.
- John Credland’s ‘Howling at the Dawn’ shot of Demon Daz from last year’s vampire evening also scored 20 as a result of being a “fantastic portrait”.
- ‘Ragged Victorians’ by Peter Silver, was praised for its detail and the look on the child’s face and hence scored 20.
- Sarah Jenning’s ‘Dawn Across the Masai Mara’ scored 19, as the colours in the sky were magnificent and the clouds almost led the judge perfectly to the single silhouetted giraffe.
