‘Abstraction From Nature’ was the subject for this week’s Practical Evening. The aim of the evening was to stimulate some ideas for the upcoming Photographer of The Year Competition on the 2nd May. So abstract subjects were the order of the evening. Cabbages, Chrysanthemum flower heads, shells and various leaves provided the abstract textures needed, with various lights (A Tungsten Focusing Light, LEDs, and a kaleidoscopic mirror box) to accentuate their textures.
The room was packed with members relishing the challenge of photographing in an abstract manner and being creative. This included lots of macro photography, getting up close and capturing the shapes and forms (and trying to stay in focus).
Thanks to all the members that brought in items to photograph in an abstract nature. It was great to see lots of people trying to help and support others throughout the evening! Furthermore, it was great to see so many new members joining in as well.
John Credland has provided some great examples of what was captured in the evening.
