So, Cityscapes, Portraits and Three Men and a Boat, what is that all about! Well, these were the genres that our winning entries were from for the second round of Photographer Of The Year Competition. Disappointingly although there was a strong number of entries for Natural History there wasn’t a perfect 20. This is something we should try and better next round as there was some really good photography. With the Natural History Workshop coming up in June we should have a slew of entries when we come back from our summer programme.
A Wide Range of Winning Genres
In our SET subject of ‘Places’ this month, congratulations must go to Doug Murrie and Graham Wills. These Cityscapes of London achieved perfect scores of 20. In addition, Colin Bright and Roger Goddard came very close both scoring 19 for their shots of Milton Keynes and Amsterdam. Chris Forster, our judge for the evening even commenting that Roger’s shot could have been easily used in an advertising campaign!
To add to that, in our OPEN section Colin Bright again scored highly, this time scoring a perfect 20, with an entry titled ‘Yesterday’s Cowboy’. A moody shot of one of our members taken on the very successful Practical Evening, titled ‘Faces’, at the club. Where’s ‘Three Men in a Boat’ I hear you cry! Well, Pauline Goldsworthy has been doing very well recently with her top scoring image in the CACC Rosebowl 3rd Round. Her captivating shot of three Fishermen caught the Judge’s eye for its beautiful tones and soft lighting enabling a perfect 20. The other high scoring images were from Adrian Court, Brian Hubbard and Jeff Wright each scoring 19.
