‘Faces’ was the SET subject for the first round of this year’s main Club competition,’Photographer of The Year’ (POTY). This attracted one of the highest numbers of entries we have had in a long time. Also, there was tremendous diversity within the entries, where people were very creative in their interpretation of the set subject. This brought a wide variety of shots from young and old for our Judge, Rojer Weightman, to score within the evening.

Faces of Success

Congratulations to Roger Goddard, Tom Knowles, Doug Murrie, Peter Silver and Nick Steadman for achieving top marks in the SET subject.  These images demonstrated some real creativity and thought behind them. You can see this in the photograph above by Tom Knowles titled ‘London Makes It Possible’.

In addition, congratulations to Matthew Kitchen, our youngest member, for achieving some strong scores for his first entries into a Club competition.  Another notable mention is, Bernie Harfield, who achieved two perfect scores for his landscape shots in the Open round. ‘Morning Light’ at Corfe Castle and ‘Path in the Wood’ both demonstrated exquisite light, really enhancing these images.  This was an interesting evening, seeing a wide range of scores and not all of the usual suspects doing well! It looks like we are going to have an exciting season ahead!

Lastly, a special thanks to Rojer Weightman for some excellent Judging where he offered a balanced and encouraging critique of shots.
