As we grow and gain new members, some of these may be Junior Members or possibly vulnerable individuals. Our duty of care to them, as a Club, and as Members, is therefore very important. To address this we started to look into Safeguarding, and what we as a Club, needed to do.

After doing that, on the 10th June 2019, we implemented a Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct. This deals with how we treat, engage and support these individuals while attending Club activities.

Who is our Designated Safeguarding Lead?

As a result of this Policy, we created a Designated Safeguarding Lead role.  This is a ‘named person’ who is responsible for all safeguarding matters at the Club. Our Designated Safeguarding Lead is Nick Steadman. Nick is the perfect person for this role as he is DBS checked already and has a background in security.

For Nick to carry out this role properly he needed to be fully trained, and sit a test. So, as part of our commitment to Safeguarding, the Club paid for him to complete this. Nick certainly found the training in-depth and it gave him a really good insight into Safeguarding. It is with great pleasure to announce, that after completing the course and test, Nick is now our certified Designated Safeguarding Lead.
